Inflection EP26: US Torches Solomon Islands for Choosing China

The Solomon Islands saw sections of its capital Honiara - including its Chinatown - devastated by violent riots originating from the province of Malaita. Malaita has been a vector for US meddling and interference for decades and the epicenter from which “punishment” is administered when the Solomon Islands’ government does not do what Washington and its allies demand. In 2019 when the Solomon Islands adopted a One China policy in favor of Beijing and pledged to replace its dependency on the US and Taiwan with closer cooperation with China plans were set in motion to stir up violence, promote separatism, and achieve regime change. The episode demonstrates not only yet another example of US interference and bullying on the international stage but also how Taiwan - a supposed “model democracy” - pursues nothing more than a stunted, mutated version of Washington’s foreign policies.
