Israeli army destroys Hamas’ Gaza underground tunnels in large scale operation

The Israeli army said on Friday it destroyed several kilometres of underground facilities including tunnels in Gaza during a large scale operation involving 160 aircraft as well as ground forces, artillery, and armoured troops. The Israel Defence Forces said in a statement the aim of the operation was to severely damage the tunnels, an underground network they say Hamas militants use to move and launch attacks on Israel. Israel’s army said more than 150 targets were hit. The rocket barrages continue launched out of Gaza and Israel pounded the territory with airstrikes in these few days as the most severe clashes since the 2014 war took on many indications of that devastating fifty days of confrontation, with no ending in sight.
