Bio By She Rox All Female Bands: Minneapolis,Minnesota based Smut began in 1989, and like many bands to form in the late 80’s to early 90’s, i. e post hair metal bands and pre- grunge bands, eventually found their way into some niche of music, however Smut remained true to themselves and refused to be pigeonholed into any particular category. The band released their debut single in 1991 “Wall Of Hate“ with then drummer Krissy Johnson, the single proved innovation was here and any past ideals of an all female band expected to pander to male audiences was not the case. The band toured extensively locally and quickly gained a large local following for their brand of metal, tinged with alternative punk rock, opening for other local based heavy weight bands such as Babes In Toyland and ZuZu’s Petals only helped the band up to even larger audiences and eventually saw the band sign to Lori Barbero’s of Babes In Toyland’s own label, Spanish Fly Records, a subsidiary of indie giant label Twin /Tone whom predominantly
