Bio By She Rox All Female Bands: Candy Ass formed in late 1998 by its founder and lead vocalist Galadriel Masterson, who set out to prove punk rock was far from dead, and at a time when music was mundane to say the least, the band quickly gained noticed in their local music scene of New York City. Hailed for their gritty punk rock that infused slick pop vocal harmonies the band along with guitarist Hopey Rock, aka Gina Moreno began as a co-ed band with a male drummer, this line up would release a single and one Ep in 2000, but recruited drummer Mary Katherine aka Mary Hogan before releasing one more single and a live full length recording in 2002, changes in bass players seemed to plague the band and saw several changes from ex Sexpod bassist Alice Genese to Karen McGinnis aka Karen Curious this however didn’t stop the band from the huge amount of positive press and buzz the band generated and even without a full length album under their belt the band landed an opening spot in support of a tour with Pink an
