Rapier grips: from common to Thibault’s

This video illustrates how Girard Thibault’s rapier grip relates to the more common rapier grip: Thibault’s grip is what happens when you take a common extended grip, with the pommel in the channel of the wrist (first part of the video), but rotate the blade about 90 degrees clockwise (for a right-hander). This puts the true edge to your left, inner guards up, outer guards down, quillons horizontal (second part). The thumb is on the top of the inner quillon. The palm is facing left and a little bit down. This operation is of course never performed in a fight, but just illustrates how both grips differ in terms of blade and quillons orientation relative to the hand and forearm.
