One of the season’s highlights occurs when the world-renowned master cellist Mischa Maisky visits Kilden’s concert hall. After his successful solo debut with the Leningrad Philharmonic in 1965, for five decades he has had an international reputation as a musician in the absolute top tier.
This musical festive evening he offers three sonorous and melodic favorites from the cello repertoire.
After the break, Julian Rachlin and the KSO perform Mozart’s wonderful 40th Symphony. This composition, like symphonies no. 39 and 41, was created during a few summer weeks in 1788, and all are considered among the absolute masterpieces of music history.
