Edgar Sampson “Don’t Be That Way 1957

This is from one of the greatest big band albums of all time. Edgar Sampson, one of the greatest composer/arrangers of all time recorded an album of his best known compositions “Swing Softly Sweet Sampson.“ This the almost the same arrangement recorded by Benny Goodman, and later Harry James of “Don’t Be That Way.“ The soloists are Charlie Shavers on trumpet, Lou McGarity on trombone, and Lou Stein on piano. Of all the recordings of this arrangement, the tempo is absolutely perfect!
