The vanes are (2) 5 gallon buckets cut in half, then at an angle to make 4 angled vanes. They’re mounted to a board, then a bicycle hub and emt conduit. It rests on my balcony railing for now and is easily removable. I have not tested it in unobstructed, optimum wind conditions, but will as soon as I complete the tower. I will use a similar design to generate a few watts of power some day. I hope this inspires you to build your own vertical axis wind turbine!
