This record marks a significant departure from Smyrtonos’s previous twelve releases, which were known for their lo-fi aesthetic. “Misanthropic Flame Of Back Devotion” offers a lighter yet equally intense take on black metal. The album brings a somewhat flamboyant black ’n’ roll style, adding a surprising twist to Smyrtonos’s sound. Despite this stylistic shift, creator Todorac retains the project’s signature vindictive black metal spirit, albeit with a few detours and a more unique concept than ever before.
