DR6 Roots: Bolero vs Bachata

Bolero and Bachata are 2 different genres, although old bachatas are very close to bolero and the bachata was evolved from bolero. DR6 asked professional Dominican musician to show the difference on the instrument level. As you can easily hear, Bolero has really different structure and sound compared to Bachata. The way to use the Bongo is totally different. The modern musicians don’t know how to play bolero and therefore they try to offer “bachata bongo“ instead of the real “bolero bongo“. Maracas is used in many boleros but not in bachata. DR7 has developed the history lessons to much higher level. We call it Extended Bachata Roots.
