Fleeing Suspect Gets Shot As He Throws His Gun Away

* (Disclaimer: This video content is intended for educational and informational purposes only) * American Canyon, California — On Thursday afternoon January 11, 2024, at approximately 3:15 PM, American Canyon Police Officers (ACPD) made a traffic stop for a vehicle code violation, in the area of southbound SR-29 and American Canyon Road. The driver failed to stop, and a vehicle pursuit ensued into Vallejo. Eventually, as the pursuit continued on Souza Way, the car’s tire blew near Gateway Drive. Multiple people ran from the vehicle. The car crashed into a fence. The suspect, identified as 18-year-old Demarea Vaughn Rogers III, of Vallejo, took off on foot with loaded handguns. An American Canyon police officer identified as Officer Joshua Coleman gave Rogers multiple commands to drop the guns. He discarded one of the guns and continued to run with another gun. That is when he was shot twice by Officer Coleman, who immediately began rendering medical aid. Rogers suffered non-life-threatening injurie
