Entangled seal rescued on Fethaland beach

In 2015 Hillswick Wildlife Sanctuary and the Scottish SPCA were called out to Fethaland beach at the northernmost point of Shetland’s mainland where monofilament netting had made a deep gash around a grey seal’s neck. We managed to find the seal and cut it free. What a joy to see it return to the sea where its wounds would heal.
