Petals From “Rose Marie“ - The Musical Play At Theatre Royal, Drury Lane (1925)
L/S of the stage, a large number of chorus girls descend stairs dressed in crinolines and bonnets. “And even more frills for “Rose Marie“ (Edith Day). Shot missing. “The dainty Minuet seemed a very tame affair to Hard-Boiled Herman (Billy Merson). (But it gave him a chance to show Rose Marie his style).“
L/S of the stage with the chorus dressed in old fashioned costumes dancing a Minuet. Edith Day (?) stands at the top of the stairs and watches the dance. She walks down the steps followed by some girls dressed in contemporary costumes. A couple dance cheek to cheek in the middle of the stage. Presumably the man is Billy Merson. Story incomplete.
Was an Eve’s Film Review item - issue unknown.
Note: Rose Marie was a phenomenal success in 1925 at the Theatre Royal in Drury Lane. It established a record of 851 performances. Some footage missing from this neg appears in “This Was Yesterday.“
