At an unidentified location we see men building up a big wood fire at the base of a tall chimney so that the old bricks of it fall down. Reverse footage makes the chimney stand back up again. Footage from 1910 (?) shows a lamppost (in Portugal?) with huge chunks blasted out along the length of it. It received the shell damage during the Portuguese revolution according to commentator. M/S of three telescopic umbrellas hanging up by their handles. A woman unzips the cover of one of them and opens out the brolly, then puts it back down again and into its cover. (Probably in a studio in London.) Several shots of a magpie smoking a cigarette on an indoor window sill. A woman talks to ’Maggie’ as she smokes and jumps about.
