Tempest (USA, Los Angeles) – ST (1988 Promo LP) Hard Rock

Recording taken from an original 12” on Hot Rod Records, 1988. Track list: 1. U.S. Of L.A. 2. Exotica 3. Lonely Nights 4. Street Life Warrior Quote: “This certainly is a rare metal gem! TEMPEST were a fantastic melodic metal band from Los Angeles in the ’80s. This classic 1988 demo features four kick-ass, catchy melodic metal anthems with very solid production and fantastic singer with a great gritty-blues voice! Not to be confused with the Christian prog-metal band on Magna Carta or any of the other “Tempests“, this band played the Los Angeles area in the late ’80s and their claim to fame was having a song on the Original Motion Picture Soundtrack to the B-movie horror flick Black Roses (1988, Metal Blade Records). The band had the song “Streetlife Warrior” on that rare out of print soundtrack that also featured cuts from Bang Tango, Lizzy Borden, King Kobra, Hallow’s Eve and the fictitious metal band Black Roses (which featured Carmine Appice and members of King Kobra). The soundtrack also featured a track by David Michael Phillips who played guitar for Tempest (as well as for King Kobra). Unfortunately I don’t know the other members of Tempest (no band credits on demo) other than the songs were written by Devane and Sunnarborg. This is a fantastic demo in excellent condition (other than slight discolor on spine of J-card). Thick glossy B&W J-card w/ white cassette with black typeset (tracks repeat on reverse side). c1988 Hot Rod Records.“ Same band from Black Roses soundtrack. This was a demo cassette and a small amount were pressed on vinyl. Features David Michael Phillips from bands King Kobra, Icon, Keel, Lizzy Borden.
