New short project about a tree, the pine this time. The inspiration behind this project was an instagram photo of a pine lake, very beautiful and peculiar. So I did a bit of research and found the place, it’s in the Netherland, Voorste Goorven. I collected some images from the place and the biome, with pines as protagonists.
I modelled all the foliage in SpeedTree, using my own scans and atlases from RealityCapture. Then, I did a bit of introduction to PCG (which I haven’t checked out yet) and created a graph for the distribution on customized meshes. I am very happy with the results, I could have done much more but the time is always a problem. All was rendered with the path tracer in Unreal.
