Alleged mastermind of 2016 Turkish armed coup plot dies media

Fethullah Gulen, leader of the Hizmet movement, who was accused of being the mastermind behind the armed attempt to depose Turkish President Erdogan in 2016, has reportedly died at the age of 83 after a lengthy illness. The cleric left Turkey in the late ’90s and criticized Ankara’s policies since the 2013 protests.
