The Supercar Diaries / Novitec Ferrari 296 GTB “Less is more” is the motto of the car industry as they downscale displacement and cylinders in a run to save our planet. Substituting the missing combustion chambers almost 1 to 1, it seems, are turbochargers that mostly strangle the authentic burble of what we used to call V8’s, V10’s and V12’s. And to top it all, it’s now possible to can the whole thing all together and drive on a battery alone. All of this. In one car. And it’s a Ferrari. And it’s bloody brilliant! Whoever can throw all those unwanted ingredients into the mix and come up with the bang that is the 296 GTB is nothing short of ingenious. Whoever can make the concoction sound like what we love from the bygone siblings, well, they’re simply genius.
