It explores how the mind can manipulate oneself through the protagonist of the album, the ’decadent pilgrim,’ who embarks on an ethereal journey—whether as a form of sarcasm regarding suffering or not—towards his mind. He finds himself submerged in the darkness of his subconscious, yet simultaneously believes he is being summoned by a dark entity inciting him to embrace the darkness and abandon his emotions.
