Dunlop Welcomes Prince Philip (1950-1959)

(This appears to be part-two of a documentary) Top of Fort Dunlop building. Crowds cheer as Prince Philip arrives by car. The staff clap as Philip walks through the “Tube Dept.“ he stops and looks at the extruding machine, MS as worker shows him how a valve is inserted into a tube. WS factory floor, tyres are inserted into water to check for leaks. He then visits the “Giant tyre shop“ and then onto the machine shop. He checks out a mould for making golf balls. An operator demonstrates how to put a tread pattern inside a mould. After “his numerous shrewd inquires“ the party moved onto the “motor cover shop“ where the tyres are built. Shots of walking around, the workers clapping, bits of machinery demonstrated., a tyre is moulded. On his walkabout the “Duke neatly dodges a continuous stream of tyres“ as they move along the conveyor process. Crowds cheer as he leaves the “happy works“. CU top of Fort Dunlop building.
