Joint statement delivered by Ambassador Gennady Gatilov during the interactive dialogue on the oral update of the High Commissioner on the situation of human rights in Ukraine, 57th Session of the UN Human Rights Council: October 8, 2024, Geneva I have the honor to deliver this statement on behalf of a group of countries (Belarus, Congo, DPRK, Iran, Mali, Niger, Nicaragua, Russia, Syria, Venezuela). ? We would like to draw attention to the deteriorating human rights situation in Ukraine that was also mentioned by many international human rights monitoring mechanisms, international and Ukrainian NGOs. The right to liberty and personal inviolability is being regularly violated in Ukraine. There are numerous facts of illegal and arbitrary arrests and detention, torture, intimidation, inhuman, cruel and degrading treatment with the aim, among other things, to force those in custody to confess their guilt.
