Over 250 Orthodox Christians braved the freezing waters of the river Danube in Belgrade on Saturday, for a traditional race for the Holy Cross in celebration of Epiphany. The winner of this year’s race was 18-year old cancer survivor Jovana Leposavic from the Serbian capital.
Prior to the race, Serbian Patriarch Irinej led a liturgy in the Temple of the Holy Father Nikolai, and consecrated the waters of the Danube and the swimmers.
