It’s been 4 years since the first release of Widescreen Revamp. The mod that changed everything for Sonic Heroes and the community involved. 4 years later, the mod rises again with a new major update.
This period of time, from the first release to the latest one, was challenging for me to fulfill such update as I had no idea where the rest of the HUD elements were. Donut and Kell came by in the middle of this long progress and helped me with their crazy knowledge to finish this update.
For version , I remade the HUD Animations, with Quality of Life improvements, mostly for animation smoothness and corrections that the vanilla animations never had. The HUD font is now fixed through code, with the horizontal scale changed to 1 instead of as the original value would make them wider that usual. Additionally, configuration for the life icon and buttons are present - choose between enabling or disabling the life icon’s permanent appearance in the game’s HUD, so you can have your life count displaying forever (or not, I don’t control your options anyway [AS]); and a button selection for you to choose between various buttons: Windows, GameCube, XBOX and PlayStation 2, with a new set of buttons specially for you that came from another project *wink wink*.
The mod has support for Normal and Extra stages/missions, Bosses, Team Battles and Special Stages, the same goes to the Result screens, Languages and little details for the mod’s improvement. As of right now, there’s yet no 2P/Multiplayer HUD changes as this one will have a different aspect in collaboration with another mod.
Note: the mod should support other localizations (mainly NTSC-U, NTSC-J and PAL) as I added the files for such, but it wasn’t tested fully.
To thank for everyone for the support to collaboration. This wasn’t possible without you, the viewer, that was capable to check how the mod progress was and was thirsty to know more about it. Thank you, for believe this day would come and to now know you’ll finally experience a proper 16:9 aspect ratio, makes me happy.
This would have not been possible without two masterminds of coding: Donut (DonutStopGaming) which helped with the code-based part, mainly the Special Stage timer, life icon’s count and initially making them appear, and to also believe this mod would’ve been finished with or without his knowledge. There’s yet to work on more from this next update so I believe you will have great ideas.
And to Kell (KellSNC), the one who came out of nowhere for this mod and humbly decided to help with the rest of the code-based part of it. If it wasn’t for his experience and knowledge, I wouldn’t release this update today. Thank you once more, and hop to make mods with you again sometime.
Sewer’s mod loader and archrivals were very helpful too! Without the mod loader itself this would not turn out how it is, not for this only but also for other great mods for the game.
Stay tuned for updates on Widescreen Revamp, SH Essentials and other mods involved with the modpack.
