Roborovski Hamster Having a Bath

More on Robo dwarf hamsters, like all other hamsters, should not be bathed in water. Instead, bathing sand should be provided either in the cage or at regular intervals outside of the cage. This is Ichigo the Roborovski hamster having a bath in a bowl of sand. He has a bad habit of peeing on and then sleeping in his wheel so his fur gets wet and yellow :( I usually place a bowl of sand in his cage but today we’re demonstrating how hamsters should be ’bathed’. There really isn’t a need to clean your hamster because hamsters groom themselves. And when you provide sand like in the video, most dwarf hamsters will roll around in it to get oil and dirt off their fur. Syrian hamsters don’t really roll but they’ll enjoy digging and playing around in sand too.
