In this technical report, we will show the results obtained using state-of-the-art numerical models developed during the Ariadna study “Space-based femtosecond laser filamentation“, which was conducted in collaboration with researchers from Ecole Polytechnique in Palaiseau. The impact of initial laser parameters (such as optical power and beam size) on the filament formation will be presented with the aim of gaining insights on the technical feasibility of the system. We will also show results obtained on the supercontinnum generation in the atmosphere for white-light lidar applications.
