Chung Family Boxing, Xingning Hakka style

Zhōng Jiā Jiào / Chung Ga Gao “Chung Family Tradition (Boxing)“ Demonstrated by Zhong ShenWen* Chung Ga Gao traces back to Zhong Yougu / Chung Woogu of Jindong town, in the Yonghe district of Xingning county in Guangdong’s Meizhou prefecture. He who began learning from master Wu Tsung-are (Wu Zongjun) from Shanghang county, Longyan prefecture, in Fujian (Meizhou is located on the border with Fujian’s Longyan prefecture) around 1835. He passed the art on to his son Zhong Zhuangsheng who taught it to Chen Baxiang. Chen Baxiang eventually moved to Indonesia for a time but not before teaching several students, eventually he did return to Meizhou. Today the art is still very rare and only practiced in a few places in Meizhou’s Xingning county.
