Surreal Elevator in Long Island City, Queens

Did you know that the weirdest elevator in New York - hell, maybe even the country - is in an otherwise boring office building in Long Island City, Queens? When I asked the guy at the front desk if I was in the building “with the really weird elevator,“ he neither confirmed nor denied it, but said in an off-the-record tone of voice, “IF what you’re looking for were here, it would be down the hall and to the left.“ When I followed up by asking him about the sculpture you see halfway through the video, he just flat-out lied and told me it wasn’t there. I brought up his lie to him on the way out after I shot this video, but he just smirked and shrugged like it was all part of the job. Must be kind of weird to get paid to officially deny the existence of crazy art projects all day.
