Intended to be a private video, this video seems to have leaked out, so we have just gone ahead and made it public. Please excuse the production quality, it was not intended to be view by more than a hand full of people.
To answer some frequent questions:
- Bushi Waza: This is what we refer to as offensive Aikido. To be clear, nage is throwing the attack just to force uke to defend. Then nage uses uke’s defense against him. Yes, we use Aikido both offensively and defensively.
- The deflections used in the other techniques are Suriage, Ukenagaeshi, and Sotokiri and are the foundation of this style of Aikido. Be careful when researching these deflections, there are some videos online that mix up some of the terms and execution.
- The Iriminage is not a clothesline. I know what it looks like, but it does in fact have a tight circle that can be difficult to see but can certainly be felt
