Abstract:
C. elegans nematode currently is the only animal with almost known
neural network architecture. Moreover, its structure, including
neurons positions, morphological features and interneuron connections
is invariant for all animals of one sex. Relative simplicity but still
quite complex behavioral patterns provide incomparable perspectives
for systems neurobiology. During last decades C. elegans was
extensively studied both with experimental methods and via computer
simulations, providing comprehensive data about it. Here we present a
detailed concept of virtual C. elegans aimed to consolidate these data
in a functional form of 3D dynamic model. In this paper we describe
our recent results and outline the perspectives of further work, now
as a part of international research group:
