Ustad Bahauddin Mohiuddin Dagar is an exponent of the Rudraveena, which is an ancient classical musical instrument of India. He plays the instrument in the Dagarbani style of the Dhrupad genre, which is one of the the oldest living vocal traditions of India and traces its roots to the Vedic era. Bahauddin Dagar was introduced to the Sitar at the age of seven, under the expert tutelage of his mother Smt. Pramila Dagar. Once he’d finished initial training, he received brief instruction on the Surbahar and was introduced to the Rudra Veena by his father, Ustad Zia Mohiuddin Dagar, a legendary Rudra Veena maestro. Later he mastered vocal music under the guidance of his uncle and mentor, Ustad Zia Fariduddin Dagar, a renowned Indian classical vocalist.
