DEVILYN - Anger, 1996

Another ’blast from the past’ by the Polish band Devilyn led by Novy, who was also involved in many other esteemed groups (Vader, Dies Irae, Nader Sadek, Thy Disease, Behemoth). From their early iteration as Cerebral Concussion, they evolved into Devilyn and produced first two albums in classic 90s death metal style, albeit later they changed it to more technical and ’modern sounding’ wave of Polish bands of that time - Decapitated, Lost Soul, Pyorrhoea, etc. Anyway, here the band offered riff-packed aggressive DM, with plenty of Morbid Angel ’93 and Pestilence ’88 vibes. And bass slaps audible in the mix were a rare occasion in those times, or am I wrong? Released in 1997 by Listenable Records, and then the only reissue was made by Metal Mind Productions in 2002, so finding a physical copy is probably only possible through resellers.
