Saar Region, Germany. Election day 13 January 1935.
Night shots. Illuminated stings of lights hang over road. CU page on calendar showing date in German. Queues of people wait outside polling stations in the snow. Various politicians in the Saar are seen casting their votes into the ballot box. Shots of soldiers in the streets bringing the ballot boxes to the count.
The returning officer announces (in Germany) that the Count is beginning. Ballot papers are counted. Outside building, decorated with lights, a torch light parade takes place. People give the fascist salute as the Nazi swastika flag is marched past. The returning officer announces the results (Cameraman changes lens between each result). A cheer goes up as it is announced that the Saar have voted to rejoin Germany.
