Panama Tuna Fishing Frenzy!

Sport Fish Panama Island Lodge’s clients experience another huge Panama Tuna fishing frenzy aboard the “TOP Cat” here in the Gulf of Chiriqui, Panama! On May 11, 2012 only 25 miles from the lodge here on Isla Paridas, Panama while Tuna fishing we came across a massive boil of Yellowfin Tunas, Porpoises, and birds decimating a bait ball of Blue Runners and Goggle Eyes. Hundreds of 50 to 100 pound Yellowfin Tunas were jumping and feeding until the baitball was gone. No doubt that Panama’s Yellowfin Tuna fishing is some of the best in the world! And every year here in Panama, from February to July, the Yellowfin Tunas show up in huge numbers the Gulf of Chiriqui. Massive schools of Tuna follow the food source of spawning baitfish and squid that migrate northward up into the gulf yearly. Massive feeding frenzies occur when these schools of Yellowfin Tuna collide with the schools of bait and begin wildly feeding in a blur of white water and splashing confusion that will get any fisherman
