X6.3 Solar Flare (2/22/2024) -

A major solar flare measuring X6.3 was detected around active sunspot region 3590 at 22:34 UTC (2/22/2024). This was the largest solar flare in terms of peak X-Ray strength since September 2017. Although a bright flare, a lack of coronal dimming is evident meaning a large coronal mass ejection (CME) will be unlikely. More solar flares will remain possible during the next 24 hours.
