Some discussion is being held to send an international contingent to restore order, with the Salvadoran president expressing his readiness to assist. Former US special envoy Daniel Foote went as far as to suggest an international military intervention, while El Salvador President Nayib Bukele has publicly asked for a UN mandate to “fix” the situation.
