Eliot Fisk: Remembering Julian Bream

This video is part of our online series: Remembering Julian Bream. The New York Guitar Festival invited some of our favorite artists to reflect on the life and musical legacy of the Grammy Award-winning classical guitarist and lutenist Julian Bream, who died at his home in Wiltshire, England on August 14, 2020, at the age of 87.  Eliot Fisk was the last direct pupil of Andres Segovia, and the founder of the guitar department at the Yale School of Music.  This means his long, prolific career is a bridge between the guitar’s most iconic figure and the generations of gifted musicians coming from that program today.  His collaborators have included Bill Frisell and Paco Pena, among many others. In this video, Eliot performs arrangements of several keyboard sonatas by Domenico Scarlatti. The NYGF and the performing artists are asking viewers to donate to MusiCares.
