Air Age Dawning (1926)

Full title reads: “Air age dawning? Mr. Mines, intrepid inventor, continues experimenting with his self-made glider“. Southport, Merseyside. M/S of car parked on sand dunes, in foreground several men are fixing together glider wings. C/U of the wings, there is a harness on the underside for the pilot to hang from. M/S of Mr. M., wearing a flying helmet, climbing into harness. The wings have been strapped onto roof of a car. Various L/Ss of car driving across beach. It appears Mr. M.’s wings are supposed to glide off roof and into air with velocity of moving car. Unfortunately experiment goes wrong - Mr. M. and wings fall off back of car straight onto sandy beach with a thud. People rush over to help inventor get back onto his feet. M/S of Mr. M. being helped out of wing harness - he seems uninjured. Intertitle reads: “Flying is only 25 years old ... in another 25 years his name may be added to the Wrights, Santos Dumont and Bleriot ... Aviation’s earliest pioneers!“ Various shots of
