July 2014 Censuses show that the number of Greeks in Abkhazia dropped from around 14,500 in 1989 to just 1,486 in 2003, most migrating to Greece during the 1992-1993 war. The Singerov brothers are two of the only musicians left in the small Pontic Greek community in the region.
