Hello and welcome to my Siberian Health show. My name is Dasha Orlov. Have you heard about lake Baikal? It’s the world’s oldest, biggest and the deepest freshwater lake in the world. We’re talking 25 million years, maybe even more, and the average of 24 hundred feet deep. The blue heart of Siberia... Now, there is an island, called Olkhon, and they call it “heart of Baikal“. Got it? Heart of the heart? There is so much history behind this place. Buryats, local people, who have lived there for centuries, or might be for thousands of years, have a lot of legends about Olkhon island, as a place where local gods live. One of them, the most powerful, Khaan-Khute-baabaj came directly from the sky, and his son, Khun Shubuu, the white-head eagle, became the first of Buryats Shamans.
