Starting in the mid-1980s in Sheffield and later Manchester, he gained international acclaim as one half of The Unabombers, curators of the legendary Electric Chair club night. A prolific music collector, Luke’s deep passion for rare and eclectic sounds has shaped his genre-defying approach to DJing, production and radio presenting. Luke is also the founder of Manchester’s much-loved and long-standing Homoelectric night and Homobloc festival—both of which have become integral to the UK’s LGBTQ cultural scene. The E Soul Cultura compilation series on Mr Bongo has since evolved into a growing international scene and more recently, his album Everything Above The Sky on RE:WARM Records explores late-night, after-hours meditations on sound. Today Luke remains, as ever, at the forefront of a young changing scene, pairing the momentous legacy of Manchester’s 80s and 90s scene with the delivery of what today’s club communities need to get down. “This is a mix dedicated to my years in the underground trenches over the last 4 decades. No hits or big classics here really, hopefully more an eyes down, lights down low moment where the room is full of darkness, a basement, a red light, and the feeling at 5am with proto house, shabeen drum machine, dark soul, night dubbin’ in outer space, into bass-buggin’ astral jazz danze.“ ---- Added context: Shebeen (or Shabeen): A shebeen is an informal establishment, often a private house without a license. Historically, these venues have been associated with vibrant music scenes, particularly in African and Caribbean communities, serving as hubs for social gatherings and live music performances. “Night Dubbing” refers to a style of music that emphasizes dub versions of tracks, characterized by remixing techniques that include echo, reverb, and the manipulation of individual instrumental tracks to create a spacious, atmospheric sound. This style gained prominence in the early 1980s with releases like Imagination’s album “Night Dubbing,” which featured dub versions of their previous hits ------------ Cameras: Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K Pro ------------ Stylus & Cartridges by Ortofon UK: Ortofon 2M Blue Record Cleaning Brush: Record brush “Joni” ------------ Equipment Provided by Audio Gold: The Klipsch LaScala Leben CS 600x Valve power amplifier Grundig Audiorama Hanging Speakers Revox B77 Tape Machine  Yamaha CR-2020 vintage receiver  Mordaunt Short Festival Series 2 vintage speakers Audio Gold custom Technics plinths.
