The things we do not see! Full screen works well on this video. It starts with mites feeding on the surface of A. striatum eggs in a petri dish. Eggs were picked from mops and placed in dish of chlorinated tap water. Last 20 seconds of the video goes closer and shows individual cells of the chorion (egg shell) and the remarkably tiny protists feeding on the bio-film there. None of this is visible with naked eye when looking at the eggs in the dish. These life forms all came in with the eggs. There are 60 eggs in this dish and none have fungused. Are these little cleaners helping out with that?
