Todaiji Temple (東大寺), Nara City

Todaiji Temple, also known as the “Daibutsu (Great Buddha) of Nara“ Temple, located in the Nara Park precincts in Nara City. Todaiji temple (東大寺) is one of the oldest temples in Nara and in Japan. Many of the original buildings have been burned down and rebuilt again many time over the centuries. The current main worship hall, known as Daibutsuden, is the largest wooden structure in the world.
