Poulenc - Les Chemins de l’Amour / Eun Sun Hong, Cello 홍은선 첼로 & Thomas Hoppe, piano
Francis Poulenc (1899-1963)
Les Chemins de l´amour
Poulenc- without much of traditional education in composition - combined French musical qualities of elegance, wittiness and an exquisite feeling for sound with a very personal style of neoclassicism.
The charme of this song, written in 1940 (the year of France´s capitulation to Hitler´s Germany) is its haunting melodic quality, a certain melancholy and, at the same time, a true Parisian “joie de vivre“.
Eun Sun Hong, violoncello
Thomas Hoppe, piano
recorded live at Atheneum Bucharest, Romania / Enescu Festival
