Guitare is one of these rare pieces written by a great composer.
Germaine Tailleferre (1892-1983) was the only female member of a group of composers named ’Les Six’.
Among other members were Poulenc,Milhaud and Auric. Like Tailleferre all of them wrote one piece each for solo guitar whereof Poulencs Sarabande, written for Ida Presti, probably is the most well known.
We don’t know who Tailleferre had in mind when she wrote her piece but personally I think it’s a small master piece at the same level as Poulencs
contribution.
