Deadly monsoons claim 38 lives across India, Pakistan
The death toll from the devastating weather systems in the last two days includes five children in Pakistan, as authorities in 11 Indian districts have issued red alert warnings anticipating more heavy rainfall.
275,000 people have been left stranded in Vijayawada, the commercial capital of Andhra Pradesh, where the worst flooding in two decades has seen the Budameru River flooding 40% of the city.
Since June, at least 170 people have died from flooding in India’s six northeastern states, with over 300 killed by monsoon-related incidents in Pakistan’s Balochistan province.
