I was expecting it to be another day of no storms, or just a chance of waterspouts, which I would’ve loved, but this just came out of nowhere. It kept building back west from where they first started developing and then pop up storms started forming near us, and somehow, they had such frequent lightning from such a small storm and so many strikes were close. I was getting a little nervous, and I almost never get nervous. I had to sit in the car too, to get a better view of the bolts which were striking to our east and east-north-east mostly. I don’t like how I missed a couple bolts though, because I was filming to our east, and a bolt struck right to our north, and then I was filming back to the north again, and then a bolt struck to our east, and those 2 bolts were amazing, but at least I still did catch a few on camera, and very frequent close strikes, and actually, I did catch a tiny bit of the first bolt which I didn’t realize. I saw it in person, but still slightly obscured by the tree, but even then, it looked big, and close, and would’ve looked even more threatening with a better view. This storm will be one to remember.
I don’t know how the cut before the first very close bolt happened, and I definitely don’t know how the 2nd cut happened right after that first bolt.
There’s supposed to be a lightning flash starting at 1:04 when I look out the window, but for some reason it didn’t come out well when I uploaded the video.
At 3:42 and 6:51 and 7:15 there’s actually bolts I didn’t realize were there. The first extends from where the top of the tree would be to below the tree on the left side of the screen, the 2nd was to the right of the tree in the center of the video, and the 3rd is just to the left of the tree as I’m turning the camera to the left. There’s a slight flash in the distance at around 6:14 or 6:15 too that I didn’t notice either. There might be more but so far I didn’t notice any more that I might’ve missed.
Just for anyone that wants it, here’s time stamps for only the really loud thunder and close strikes since they can be a little of a jump scare:
0:12 (loud)
0:53 (loudest one I’ve ever heard in my life and can be a jump scare if not ready for it)
1:07 (loud and deep)
3:25 (muffled, but still very close)
4:05 (best lightning bolt that I caught on camera, but the best one overall was the the one that caused the first deafening boom 53 seconds into the video)
I still encourage anyone watching to watch the full video, since the whole video is worth watching. This is one of my best videos if not my best video ever, because of the frequency of the close lightning.
