Kathy Kirby - When I Go to Sleep at Night (1963)

What if Kathy had been the lead singer of a ’60’s girl group? This treasure of a recording gives us some indication of what the results may have sounded like. This song was originally recorded by the Tokens in 1961 as a doo-wop number, and a couple of years later turned into a girl group vehicle for the Chiffons. Kathy’s version was recorded on July 25, 1963, but went unreleased until its inclusion on a CD compilation in the early 2000’s called “Hits, Rarities and Lipgloss!“.
