Bukharian Jewish musician and Samarkand native, Ilya (Ilyahu) Khavasov sings a Tajik/Bukharian/Uzbek folk tune in Tajik called “Oy Khonume“ (“Khonum“ is the how one respectfully addresses an older woman in Central Asian and Persian custom). The other song he sings is called “Samarkand“ a Russian song written by Uzbek musician Nasiba Abdullayeva about the city of Samarkand. Additionally, dancing in red is one of the students of famous the Bukharian Jewish dancer, Malika (Mazol) Kolontarova, a People’s Artist of the USSR. Performed at the Golden Ilyas Awards 2008 in honor of the great poet, playwrite, and musician, Ilyas Mallayev.
