Filament Eruption and Coronal Mass Ejection (May 12, 2015) -
Here is a neat video combination courtesy of the Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) using the 304 angstroms channel and LASCO C2. A nice looking filament eruption near the west limb produced a westerly directed coronal mass ejection (CME) during the early hours of May 12, 2015. Proton levels streaming past Earth are now enhanced, however remain below the minor radiation storm threshold. Stay tuned to for the latest spaceweather news and information.
