Everton continued to ramp up their fitness work ahead of the 2024/25 Premier League campaign but were defeated 3-0 at Coventry City.
Blues Academy graduate and current Coventry No.9 Ellis Simms grabbed the opening goal of the contest midway through the first half before Ephron Mason-Clark and Victor Torp added second-half efforts for the hosts at the Coventry Building Society Arena.
Iliman Ndiaye, who missed the weekend’s trip to Salford City with a niggle, returned to action with 45 minutes of action, but the Blues remained without a host of senior players including James Tarkowski, Jarrad Branthwaite, Idrissa Gana Gueye, Vitalii Mykolenko and Nathan Patterson, who continue to work their way back from respective injuries, as well Jordan Pickford, who has been given extended leave after his international commitments, and new signings Jesper Lindstrøm and Jake O’Brien.
